Stazo® marinedeck
Back in the early 80-s we began research on alternatives for teak ship decks. Many different options were investigated, including many synthetic materials. Our focus was on something non-skid, easy to clean, with a long life cycle and very limited or no technical maintenance. As a matter of fact natural cork was our first choice from the beginning. Research confirmed we were on the right path.

Suberose Parenchyma
Suberose Parenchyma is the given name of the bark of the cork oak tree. Cork is highly homogenous and consists almost enti rely of cellular membrane through which no channels run. The cork ti ssue is formed from dead cells. Each cork cell consists of a minimal quanti ty of solid materials and a maximum of gaseous materials, essenti ally atmospheric air but also containing carbon dioxide. One cm3 contains about 40 million cells. Cork granules are excellent thermal insulators and can reduce heat loss by 36% or lower temperatures by 53%. Cork is used in protective heat shields of space shuttles, one of the product’s most exciting applications.
Cork
To utilize all of the advantages and properties of cork, a hybrid synthetic binder was developed, improved and adapted to environmental requirements. Our production facilities employ integrated and continuous quality controls, sophisticated high pressure machinery, NC sheet- and plank cutting machines, CAD deck designs and NC machinery to produce finished ships decks.
